Abstract

Resume. In rural areas, most mothers have adequate knowledge of the importance of breastfeeding, but not all of them follow their knowledge, since every tenth newborn begins to receive supplemental nutrition already within the walls of the maternity hospital. More than half of children aged 6 months to 2 years do not receive an acceptable variety of products per day, every third child - in the minimum allowable multiplicity of food intake within a day.

Irrational, mostly nutritional deficiency is the cause of high prevalence of iron deficiency anemia (44.7%) and stunting (15.9%) among children aged 6 months to 2 years.
