SEVERE FORMS OF HEPATITIS A VIRUS INFECTION IN CHILDREN

Resume: The results of a retrospective analysis of 115 stories of disease in children with severe form of Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) infection with edema-ascites syndrome. All patients were treated in Republic clinical infectious disease hospital in the period 2010-2014. The age structure of patients was dominated by children older than 4 years. Mostly acute form of disease were developed among children from 4 to 7 years (P<0,05). Mainly patients with HAV infection hospitalized in the icteric period of disease with edema-ascites syndrome, which is not typical in clinical picture. In most cases (91,3%) ascites syndrome was detected by ultrasound. Only in 8,7% of cases ascites syndrome was detected by physical examination. In 3,5% of cases was development of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) syndrome, which contributed to the adverse outcome.
