Abstract

Summary. Spontaneous hemothorax (SG) is a subcategory of hemothorax, which includes the accumulation of blood in the pleural cavity without the relationship to injury or other causes. The clinical picture of the SG includes chest pain and dyspnea, which can be life-threatening when hemodynamic instability and hypovolemic shock occur. In comparison with other forms of hemothorax, the description of SG is much less common in the scientific literature. The literature review is performed to identify and summarize all the potential causes of this clinical condition.
