TUBERCULOSIS OF CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM AMONG PATIENTS OF KYRGYZ REPUBLIC IN THE PERIOD 2002- 2012 YEARS
Abstract
There is high burden of tuberculosis in Kyrgyzstan. The prevalence of extra pulmonary tuberculosis in the period 2002-2012 is 40% to 28,7%. The prevalence of central nervous system TB in the country is also raising during this period and estimates 1,1% to 2,5%. Mortality from this severe form of TB is very high. It is 51,1% among patients of the observed group – more than½ of all cases. The main risk factors of fatal outcome are drug resistance of MBT, HIV-positive status of patients and the late diagnosis of disease.
